Old Town School of Folk Music and CIMMfest Present: Deer Tick “Acoustic” 10 pm
Feel-good indie rockers Deer Tick help to set CIMMfest No. 8 in motion with a festival kick-off show at the Old Town School of Folk Music. The Providence, Rhode Island-based five-piece formed in 2004, and has subsequently grown a following for its folk, blues, country-tinged rock tunes, and the party-like show atmosphere. Deer Tick’s appearance is part of Old Town School’s spring “acoustic” tour (the group decided to turn down the volume for a change in an effort to protect their hearing) and will feature a mix of new material and selections from their catalog. Riley Walker opens.
Ryley Walker's acoustic guitar stylings, sweet, soulful vocals, and psychedelic folk and rock leanings have made him one of the most unique talents to emerge from Chicago's musical underground in recent years. Walker appears at CIMMfest following two album releases last year: Primrose Green and Land of Plenty, a collaboration with guitarist Bill MacKay.
